Kaili, the capital of the Qián Dongnán Autonomous Prefecture of the Miáo and Dòng nationalities is in eastern Guìzhou and also the gateway to some of the most fascinating minority villages in China. About 65% of the prefecture's population is Miáo, clustered to the east and northeast of Kaili. The Dòng people are mostly in the southeast. This entire region hosts more than 100 festivals each year, February to March and October to November encounter most of those festivals. Local festivals and practices include Lusheng Performance Dragon Boat Festival, Dragon Lantern Festival, Sisters' Meal Festival, New Rice Eating Festival, Miao New Year, ect. The local customs and ethnic dietary culture can be appreciated here. The Miao arts and crafts, such as the embroidery, brocade, wax printing, and paper cut, are delicate and famous in home and abroad.
