Chongqing
Chongqing, or Chungking as it was known in the World War Two, is located at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers meeting at the eastern part of Sichuan Basin. With a population of 31 million, Chongqing is now the biggest city in China since it was upgraded as the forth Municipality by the central government in 1997. As the commercial and industrial center on the upper reaches of the Yangtze, Chongqing is supposed to spearhead the development of the vast southwestern China. A famous historic and tourist city in China, one can enjoy the Dazu Stone Sculptures(UNESCO Spot) after 2 or 3 hours' drive.
In this well known "mountain city", a night view is a must for newcomers.
Enjoying a typical subtropical weather, Chongqing is one of the hottest cities in China, hence it's name-oven city.
Cruise eastward from Chongqing you can enjoy the amazing Yangtze Gorges.
